1940s' Mini Tea Room Encounter
We love living history and offer a small space for a taste of the 1940s. Replica newspapers to read, Ration book menu and original WWII recipe cakes served alongside loose leaf tea and artisan coffee. The atmosphere is calm with strains of Glenn Miller playing for a very unique tea room experience. Please book 24h in advance for a full afternoon tea including sandwiches. "And when the American's came" was said so often during interviews of local people recounting Bude between 1939-1954. This interesting, entertaining and illustrated history talk presents the narrative of local people and what Bude was like during the Ration Years. The American Rangers trained on Bude beaches for D-Day Pointe du Hoc. We bring those stories to life and then serve a living history afternoon tea made of original WWII recipes.
Enjoy our History Talk & Afternoon Tea every Wednesday 5pm-7pm and Friday 3pm-5pm.
